WHO?
Through these internet pages, Bible study materials are available to anyone who may be interested. Stephen L. Ricker, the author of most of the material, is not a Bible scholar, nor has he gone to a theological seminary. However, he has spent almost thirty years praying, researching, attending Bible study classes at various churches, and reading various commentaries. Most important of all, his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, has planted a desire in his heart to know, understand, and share God's word. The Holy Spirit has moved his heart during study the word of God. His desire is to share what he has learned and experienced.
INTERESTED?
If you feel you need help in studying the Bible, and don't want to spend a lot of money on books and materials, you might be interested in checking out what Stephen is offering. These studies are free. Each study is in HTML (hypertext) format so they can be viewed in a web browser. These Bible study materials go chapter by chapter through a book of the Bible (more or less). Studies are not available on every book of the Bible at this time. For a list of studies available, please return to the Bible Study home page and pick the book.
FORMAT?
The Bible studies offered through these web pages are designed to make Bible study easy and informative. Once you pick a book of the Bible to study, you will go chapter by chapter through that book, one study at a time.
Each study has a series of questions to help you think about the chapter. After answering the questions, another web page is full of comments on words, phrases, and sentences within the study.
The Bible verse(s) are in italic words. Under the verse(s) are the comments. They follow an asterisk. Usually there are several comments that follow each verse. Within these comments you will find answers to the questions you answered and more.
Finally, if you have questions on the study Stephen will do his best to answer them, or at least point you to where you can find the answer.
HOW TO BEGIN?
If you are interested in trying the Bible study materials, return to the Bible Study home page by clicking the HOME link above and pick the BOOK link. This will send you to another web page that has a list of several books of the Bible. Choose a book of the Bible that you may want to study by clicking the name. This will send you to the QUESTIONS web page for the first study of the book you picked.
Print out the questions or answer the questions while viewing at the web page. Before studying the Bible passage, pray, asking Jesus Christ to send you the Holy Spirit to help you study his word. Next, read the passage and memorize the key verse. Then, answer the questions.
After answering the questions, pick the COMMENTARY link at the top of the QUESTIONS page. This will send you to a web page with comments on words, phrases, and versed found in the study. Review the commentary to learn more about the passage you are studying.
There also may be maps and other things available for review from this web page. Review them as well.
By completing these things you have finished Study 1.
HOW TO RECIEVE MORE?
After completing Study 1, e-mail Stephen your answers to the questions. Relay the book of the Bible that you have begun to study. Your answers must be in either MS Word, or if you don't have MS Word, e-mail the answers in the email text section of your email. Also, please provide Stephen with your name, address, city, state, country, and zip when you request the second study. This information will not be sold to anyone, nor given away.
Once all this have been emailed and recieved, the second study of the book of the Bible that you have choosen will be e-mailed to you. No more than one study a week will be sent.
WHAT FORMAT WILL SUBSEQUENT BIBLE STUDIES BE SENT IN?
Subsequent Bible studies will be emailed to you in self extracting ZIP files, i.e. Study2.exe. Read the e-mail and unzip the file. Once unzipped, you can view the new study on a web browser.
NOTE: your web browser might automatically unzip the file when it is finished downloading it, or at least ask you if you want to unzip it.
HOW TO UNZIP THE FILES SENT.
First, read the e-mail send to you. Then, download the file attached to it by clicking the box that asks if you want to download the file. Remember where you put the file.
Second, open Windows Explorer.
Third, using Windows Explorer, find the file that was downloaded. (Note: if you forgot where you downloaded the file to you can still find it in your computer. For example, with Windows in Classic View, click the Start Button; highlight Find; and click Files or Folders. Type the name of the file you downloaded in the Named box. In the Look in Box highlight the down arrow, and pick My Computer.)
Fourth, once you found the file you downloaded, click it to open it. When opened, the file will ask if you want to put the files in the chosen Folder. Pick yes; or choose another name and location to put the file in. When you pick YES the file will self extract itself.
Fifth, using Windows Explorer, find the folder that was just created (extracted), and double click one of the files in it. When you do so, your default Browser will start up and open the page you clicked. Then you many begin your study.
BIBLE VERSION USED?
The translation quoted in these studies is the New International Version (NIV). However, feel free to study the Bible using one of the following translations; The King James Version (KJV), The New King James Version (NKJV), or The Living Bible (LB).
