I. God did not Give us a Spirit of Timidity (1-7)

1. What were Paul's circumstances at this time (2:9, 4:6,7) How does Paul introduce himself?

2. What was Paul's relationship to Timothy? (Philippians 2:20-22) What can you say about Timothy's background? (Acts 16:1-3, 5; and 1 Tim. 4:12a; Phil. 2:19-20)

3. What was Timothy's position in Ephesus? (1 Tim. 1:3) What can you say about his situation in Ephesus at that time? What does Paul say about Timothy's faith? (5) What might have been his spiritual condition at this time?
