III. The Valley of Dry Bones (37:1-31)

>8.

* The prophecies in this chapter were given after Nebuchadnezzar burned Jerusalem, destroyed the temple, deported the people, and removed the last king of Judah from the throne.

The Lord thru Ezekiel told about his plan to raise the dead. He said he would open the graves and bring me up from them. He promised to put his Spirit in me and I will live at the resurrection. He promised to settle me in my own land. Something I look forward to since I have no land.

The Lord also told about his plan to unite Jews with Ephraim, Joseph's son by his Egyptian wife. Ephraim represents the Gentiles who believes in Jesus. When Jacob who is Israel saw his grandson Ephraim he blessed him saying, "...his descendants will become a group of nations." And so through Jesus I am a child of Israel as the apostles also wrote.

The Lord thru Ezekiel explained to the people about how he had planned to keep his promise to David after the last descent of David was removed from the throne of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar. He said, "My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd... David my servant will be their prince forever." This is Jesus.

This chapter is hope for the future, a resurrection of the righteous and a uniting of the resurrected under King Jesus.
