I. False Prophets (12:1-16)

>1. ?

* "

* Ezekiel is still in chronological order. Chapters 12 and 13 are a few years before Judah's end as a nation and Jerusalem's fall.

The Lord relayed thru Ezekiel that the end was at hand. The people who heard this said, "That is a long time off. All those prophecies of doom won't happen to us for we are God's chosen people. God is good and he doesn't do those things especially to us, his people." The Lord said they were wrong.

False prophets were in Judah and Babylon. They were telling the people what they wanted to hear. They said that the scattered remnant were about to return to Israel. They told the people that they were fine in their religious practices and didn't need to change. The Lord said to the false prophets, "Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies, when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives, therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will save my people from your hands. And then you will know that I am the Lord."

Jesus warned his disciple about coming false prophets teaching lies, especially about his second coming. Paul told the elders of Ephesus that false prophets would come from within their congregations. The warning to test all spirits includes people who say that the Spirit of God told them about Jesus's second coming, and tjey learned of secret things that are just now revealed.

I have seen, heard, and talked to people who claimed to be Christian and taught lies. When confronted with the Word of God they walk away in silence and then teach their false teachings to someone else. I have heard predictions of the rapture timing and dates that come and do not happen. Many preachers teach about rapture timing that first was taught in the US about 200 years ago. The original teacher had made predictions of the rapture based on this teaching said he discovered thatwhich had been hidden. Twice he presented a date for the rapture that did not happen. Inspite of this his ideas are still accepted as valid though his dates were wrong.

I need to study the whole Bible very good and pray. I do and I see that a belief about the rapture's timing counters Jesus's parables. Someone once asked Billy Graham, "What would you do if someone told you that Jesus was coming in 5 years?" He replied, "I would study The Bible and pray for 4 years to see if that is true. Then teach and preach for one."
